The refugee crisis is a major humanitarian disaster of our time. It has been happening for years, and millions of people have been displaced. The number of refugees has increased over the last decade, reaching a new peak in 2015 with almost 65 million people fleeing their homes.
The UNHCR estimates about 22.5 million refugees worldwide, including those internally displaced within their own country. The total number of refugees globally exceeded 25 million at the end of 2017 and 27by million at the end of 2018.
The United States has a long history of welcoming refugees and immigrants. In the past, we have welcomed people fleeing oppression in Europe, Asia, and Africa. The United States has always been a significant contributor to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and other organizations that provide support to refugees in general or specifically Syrian refugees. The US has pledged $3 billion in aid to help with refugee resettlement and $6 billion more in humanitarian assistance from 2012 through 2017.
Only in the last year there has been an immense increase in the number of refugees coming to the United States. This is due to fear of persecution from violent conflicts in their home countries. Many people want to help the refugees with what they have, but they are unfamiliar with organizations they can trust for this noble cause.
There are many charities and non-profits that have been working tirelessly to provide relief for refugees. A Better Community Vision Center (abcvc.org) has been doing this since 2020 and we are now working on a campaign called “Rescue & Restore” which is raising funds to help refugees with immigration. It costs $2,000 to help one refugee with immigration, and you can donate as little as $5 or more than $500.
A Better Community Vision Center (abcvc.org) is a non-profit organization providing help to refugees in Southwestern Florida. We are currently on the ground and taking care of refugees from various countries and territories around the globe. A Better Community Vision Center (abcvc.org) has been working with local partners to provide food, shelter, education, healthcare, and jobs to help them become self-reliant.
With your donations, we can continue to support these efforts. Please visit our website (abcvc.org) to donate and help this noble cause.
